Our hospital has never used red for the reasons I suggested.

I can't say who is right or wrong; just my experience. 

I just feel a bit more comfortable observing pre-p.o. secretions - greenish?  
then more blue green after p.o.?  rather than a bit more pink. I just feel 
safer.   Call me silly.
