** Oh sure - because there is an assumption that because they are DD they MUST have impairment and if their particular manner of ingestion is "abnormal" in goes a g-tube with all of its attendant problems. Drives me nuts! Adults with DD who have been orally fed all their lives have no need of alternate means of nutrition unless, as with the typical population, some significant event occurs or another disease develops.
