Good for you. I work with DD population and as far as I am concerned, whoever
came up with the ideal of "age appropriateness" should be hung.
1. If a person has a mental age of a child and likes children's toys, what is
the problem?
2. If the problem is having people perceive the DD as children, then simply
let them have their favorite things at home and get something more "adult" to
fiddle with in public...if really needed.
3. Always check who promotes ideas. Bux are usually involved. Why pay tons
for an "age appropriate" game..(shuffleboard, checkers, etc...you have seen the
prices!) Thank heaven the all time favorite is "Connect Four" - a popular
regular game. My clients love depositing the red and blue chips, but almost none
of them connect with idea of putting them in a row. (Scuse the pun.)
4. Just as with AAC equipment, if you can buy it for the masses and not
exclusively for the DD pop., you get a better deal.
My 135 cents worth...
