*** Esophageal dysmotility, gastroparesis, lower gut
problems, constipation etc. One of the important
effects of this impairment is related to those
patients who take Sinemet. This medication must reach
the duodenum quickly or it can't cross the blood brain
barrier. Many of the so-called end-stage dyskinesias
etc. are due entirely to the failure of the Sinemet to
reach its destination appropriately, not to
progression of the disease. Delivery directly to the
duodenum has been used in different ways with
different patients but it remains one of the primary
problems with PD treatment.
