Hello
I have just joined this list. I am from Malaysia. My son has dysphagia after a near drowning accident. We were fortunate to meet some Malaysian Speech therapists who were trained in VitalStim. My son began Vital Stim a few weeks ago. We initially booked in for 10 sessions but were not quite done and have booked for another 10.
We are very excited as my son has learnt to swallow immediately ( he had pooling) he nows drinks water and milk orally ( only small quantities) and coughs very strongly and can clear his throat. Today he blew through a whistle. We still have a long way to go but am very excited and can't wait for the next block of VitalStim which we start tomorrow.
Chewing will be our next goal and look forward to the wisdom of the group.
Kind Regards/Fezia
