[Dysphagia] Re: new list on Medicare holiday coverage

The last time I checked my cognitive abilities, I found myself relatively savvy about Medicare reimbursement and financial scrutiny.  I would agree, in part, with the recent suggestion that  documentation is paramount for any modification in the ordered treatment plan, but I find it questionable that any clinician would presume to dictate "the best interest" of the patient for holiday coverage and more importantly that a therapy holiday does damage to that patient.  When I fall down and fracture my hip, but presume to spend my Thanksgiving with my family, no treating therapist will tell me what to do.

Having said that, I will ask one dumb question just to amuse everyone.  I am in a running battle with the advocates of thickened liquids who believe that jello should not be served to those who have an order.  Anyone care to respond to my dumb inquiry?  Thanks to this incredibly astute listserve.  Patti
