[Dysphagia] Dry Mouth

It would be nice to know whether it is a marketing ploy or true information. Here is a quote from the FAQ section of their website (www.biotene.net<about:blank>):

<Can I use the Biot?ne mouthwash with another mouthwash or another toothpaste other than Biot?ne ?
No! Due to the sensitive nature of the enzymes contained within our product, if you use Biot?ne mouthwash in conjunction with another mouthwash, the enzymes will be destroyed and the Biot?ne mouthwash will be ineffective. Using another mouthwash especially an alcohol based mouthwash in conjunction with Biot?ne toothpaste will destroy the enzymes in the toothpaste as well.>

We've used the biotene mouthwash with colgate or whatever other toothpastes. Is there a reason it "must be used" with the biotene toothpaste or is this just a marketing thing?

I agree. Regarding oral care, Biotene is a good non-alcohol, antibacterial mouthwash for dry mouth--must be used in conjunction with the Biotene toothpaste versus another toothpaste. They also have refreshing orajel & gum, both for dry mouth.

My question would be---why not give her free water with concurrent scheduled oral care? The Frazier Free Water Protocol works--its documented.
