[Dysphagia] Baclofen question

Thanks Irene - yes I had seen those adverse effects listed. She has cerebral palsy and is generally healthy - always had some very mild speech problems but was mostly intelligible and functional in her communication until this apparently sudden decline. She takes no other medication at all. Her current dosage is 360?g/day. We await CT results and a neurology assessment...

*** One would have to know what other meds she is taking as well as details of the underlying pathophysiology but baclofen adverse effects are described thus:

The most common adverse effect of oral or intrathecal baclofen therapy is transient drowsiness. Other adverse effects of oral or intrathecal therapy occurring less frequently include fatigue, nausea, vertigo, dizziness, hypotonia, muscle weakness, mental depression, or headache.

Many adverse CNS and genitourinary effects also are symptoms of the underlying disease (i.e., multiple sclerosis, spinal cord lesions) and may not be related to baclofen therapy. Neuropsychiatric disturbances reported rarely during oral baclofen treatment include insomnia, muscle pain, paresthesia, tinnitus, slurred speech, coordination disorders, tremor, rigidity, dystonia, ataxia, blurred vision, nystagmus, strabismus, miosis, mydriasis, diplopia, dysarthria, and seizures.
