Hello All
I wrote in a few weeks ago regarding the issue of thickening breastmilk
in the NICU and got some really helpful information, thank you. The
nursing staff and myself would like to address the issue of thickening
breastmilk as well as formula and the lack of research backing this
method of reducing reflux. I would appreciate if anyone that works in
paediatrics could let me know what protocol is used by the
paediatricians in your area for dealing with severe reflux in both
neonates and infants. Also, if there are any relevant articles on
reflux in this population that you could recommend it would be most
appreciated!
Kind Regards

Actually this book was published in 2000 by Pro-Ed in their "For
Clinicians by Clinicians" series. Unfortunately they only retained 2
of those titles from the series when they did some purging in the end
of 2004. I agree with you that this is an awesome text and it is a
total shame that it is out of print.
I've done a few presentations on the information for Northern Speech
Services and am scheduled to present with Tom Franceschini several
times in 2006.

I recently came across a book "Evaluation of Dysphagia in Adults
Expanding the
Diagnostic Options" edited by Russell H. Mills and published by
PubMed.
Unfortunately, this book is out of print. After reading through a
borrowed
copy, I was impressed by the content and topics such as interpreting
lab values
for diagnostics and decision making etc...
What I don't understand, is why is this book out of print? If anyone
can shed a
little light on this I would really appreciate it as there was so much
wonderful
information that I literally read all 323 pages in one night.
Thanks
