How do you evaluate the GI related reasons? I have a little Cleft
Palate girl, whose feeding has deteriorated since she was born three
months ago. She just basically quits feeding after about 15-20mls.
She tends to be fussy. She uses the Haberman bottle and we had tried
other bottles and nipples and felt this was the best. MBS- showed some
oral disorganization however the swallow performance was unremarkable-
the SLP felt that her feeding "aversion" was not explained by her
swallowing performance. ENT ruled out apnea and overt GI reflux through
scoping and 48 hour admission. He did not refer to GI. So I guess my
question is, when do you refer to GI, what tests are best suited for
this age and what would be the next step.
