[Dysphagia] digital fluoroscopy

In our learning attempts as we move to a digital format for our
videofluroscopic swallow assessments (PACS already in place) I'm
wondering if anyone has advice regarding software programs available
that are potentially compatible or necessary (?) with dvdcam. Contact
information for such programs would be appreciated.
Thanks,

our facility has been digital for a few years now. it is still
difficult
for some therapists (the ones that are not doing the studies on a daily
basis) because of the speed of the image is too slow. Personally, I
like
the digital image much better, but it did take some adjusting. We are
also
currently bypassing the digital system and still have the good ole VHS
somehow hooked up. We purchased something through Siemens to hook it up.
I
have NOT noticed a difference in the speed between the digital live
version
and the recording on the VHS. The only difference I notice is with the
live
digital image vs. the archaic fluro we used to have (VCR or no VCR).
My
radiologist is also very conscious about radiation protection. She will
actually slow the image down to 3 frames per sec when I am performing
the
studies. This is extremely slow, yet she insists on lowering it with me
since I am exposed to the radiation on a daily basis. After much
experience, and review of each study about 10 times afterwards on tape,
the
speed is second nature now.

Our x-ray department will be completely digital in the next couple of
weeks. They have purchased a PACs system. For the time being we will be
able to bypass the digital signal with our VHS. We hope to purchase a
dvdcam for our studies. My understanding is that some hospitals have
run into difficulty when bypassing the system and the speed of the
digital recording. My question is how have others found the transition
to digital for their studies? Are there guidelines for equipment
purchase?
