[Dysphagia] FW: Dermatomyositis

Dear Aviva,

Sorry about the delay - only received the e-mail today. I have had a few patients with this condition, and also a similar condition -Polymyositis. Unfortunately in the cases I had - the diagnosis was made too late and the patients already had dysphagia and deteriorated very quickly. It sounds like this may have occured with your lady. I don't imagine for a second that the severity of dysphagia was caused by the Shaker - but it wouln't help the symptoms at that stage (I don't think). If she has been put on meds and they are helping, then she may well come through the other side - lets hope.

Hope this helps!

Karen
