[Dysphagia] Hypodermoclysis
I understand the point that since there is another option for hydration why not use it. It is also apparent that we are concerned with dehydration and other issues involved with thickened liquids. What about pts. families that are not comfortable doing the hypodermoclysis at home. However, the fact remains that we are dealing with thickening liquids as a recommendation to individuals that are aspirating.
I am just looking for your suggestion as what to do if hypodermoclysis is not going to be used.
If anyone else out there has any suggestions it would be most appreciated. I do believe the bottom line for all of us involved in this discussion group is the health and quality of life of our patients.

I keep hoping that the US will somehow haul itself, albeit kicking and screaming, into at least the latter part of the twentieth century with respect to this painless, useful and otherwise widely used procedure. With respect to general health care, especially of the elderly, the Europeans have it all over us in North America - and I do include Canada.
Ah well, at least Medicare does have a code for it.
