Alternate liquids,   I too have done alot of videos over the years and they are on both acute and non-acute chronically ill or general patients.  Thickening of liquids is not some guarantee of future hydration problems unless you use honey thick as your only choice in thickened liquids.  I also use a version of the Fraser Water Protocol whenever possible.  I would agree with Irene that if someone aspirates thins then they probalbly aspirate other consistencies since they begin to thin with saliva.  I would disagree that thickening liquids is ineffective as I could show you multiple cases of multiple asp. pneumonia patients who stopped repeat admissions once placed on approp. liquid diets.
