I have used the provale cups with many patients. Our facility has the 10CC and the 5CC cups. Because of the small amounts that it allows, we have many patients who are able to have thin liquids and need less cueing and supervision at meals. We currently have 3 patients using the 10CC and one with the 5CC. We educate the families and caregivers. The patients are given one cup for their rooms and then others with liquids in them arrive at meals. Education is the key because as it was said that we have a lot of patients that tip their heads back when using the cup and thus reduce the effectiveness.
