... especially in elderly population eso screening is vital... I would say from my experience ....never know what mysteries can unfold when you get between PES and GES...strictures,dysmotility, tumours etc etc ... I find it very usefully ...if fact most of the gastro's prefer sending there cases to us as we record them well and try different consistencies ...we work very closely with our gastro's.....For those interested this is what we have as a protocol and we cover all bases and routinely screen in AP view the esophageus, where possible, just for the record.

The Physicians (ENT group) I work with are ordering a "Videoesophagram for Swallowing with Speech Pathology present"
That covers it all.

In the text it states "Examination of the esophagus is at the discretion of the radiologist." ?I'm having more and more difficulty with a few Radiologists about allowing me to have the esophagus viewed as part of the study. ?It would be wonderful to have a protocol endorsed by a Radiologist to show my reluctant Radiologists about the importance of including the esophagus. ?I know the importance of the esophagus has been well emphasized on this list serv but if you have any such references that would be very helpful. ?Thanks in advance.
