[Dysphagia] NOMS is acute hospital settings

We've done NOMS here in our hospital which is around 240 beds. I agree it is difficult to contribute with what seemed like useless data, as many of our patients were discharged quickly, were extremely ill with poor ability to participate in treatment or had other factors such as post-extubation dysphagia with relatively quick resolution spontaneously. At the very least however, hopefully we contribute in an important way in at least baselining status, contributing to tracking spontaneous recovery/degree of recovery over time and compelling those in rehab hospitals/receiving facilities to carry on the data collection. Dear Sheri,
I tried to implement NOMS in the small acute care hospital I work at. I became immediately frustrated - like the line from the Wizard of Oz by Dorothy: "Oh my! People come and go so quickly around here!" I didn't feel my input was of any significance since after the evaluation I rarely see patients for more than one revisit. (Not my choice but they either got better and consequently were discharged or got worse due to other co-morbidities and were no longer appropriate candidates for follow-up). Sorry!
