Our hospital currently has a policy which requires small bore nasal feeding
tubes to be placed by a physician. Hence, we do not even have them in the
facility, as the physicians do not want to be called each time someone needs
a short term feeding tube.
We are trying to get purchasing to get small bore tubes, but we will need to
rewrite the policy to allow RNs to place the tubes. We were wondering what
the policies were at other hospitals.
Thank you in advance for your responses,
Gerriann
