At our facility the OT does e-stim in those cases.

Subject: [Dysphagia] e-stim for facial paresis

Hi all,

We have a patient at our rehab hospital who was referred for outpatient ST for "e-stim for facial weakness". Has anyone heard of or had experience with e-stim for facial paresis? This particular patient has had an acoustic neuroma resection and has facial paresis resulting from that. The PT who is seeing the patient has told me that in his previous facility, the SLP there did provide e-stim for facial weakness. Our PT is a vestibular specialist and it sounds like we may be getting more referrals for "facial weakness" as a result of his program.

  Any thoughts?

  Thanks,

  Sandi
