[Dysphagia] effects of barium on saliva production

I have never had a patient report any change. I have also taken barium and did not note a change. What prompted your question?

Subject: [Dysphagia] effects of barium on saliva production

Hello all,

Does anyone know anything about the effects of barium on saliva
production? I've done a cursory literature search on the subject and
have come up empty-handed. I would like to know if the production of
saliva is altered in any way with po intake of barium (in normals and/or
other populations), as this could obviously have a significant impact on
interpreting MBS/VFSS data.

Thanks for any help,

SG
