In MG the impairment of both oropharyngeal an esophageal function can be profound. One of the articles cited notes testing of thyroid . This is because hyperthyroidism can mimic MG and must be eliminated as a cause of the dysphagia. The aspiration ?pneumonia? described in the article is actually aspiration pneumonitis from inhaled reflux. See:
