[Dysphagia] outcome measures
The ASHA assessment tool (I am blocking on the name just now)has been accepted by Medicare. It allows for more specific assessment of dysphagia. You can search the website. There is also the SWAL-Qual which you can find in a literature search. Hilda Pressman

Subject: [Dysphagia] outcome measures
Sorry for the slightly off topic post - my rehab (in- and outpatient)
facility is looking for a general outcome measure. The FIM is currently used
for inpatients, but the admins are interested in collecting data on
outpatients too. Anyone in rehab (or anywhere for that matter) use a good
tool that they would recommend? They are looking for something that can
measure how patients are actually functioning and the FIM does not provide
that information.
Thanks,
Sharon (S-LP)
