[Dysphagia] Blue Dye Test - Trach patients
The problem is carrying the bottle into patients rooms. This can be avoided by using individual doses

Why would there be any more chance of infection since the dietary dept. uses
food coloring in food preparation? And don't we use food anyway as the
product in which we embed the dye? When I was at University of Pittsburgh
Medical Center we had approved a policy for blue dye agreed upon by 17
facilities.

When our facility used to do it, we had challenges with obtaining the dye
from our pharmacy due to sterilization requirements, etc. We eventually
stopped performing the blue dye test due to chance of infection to some pts.

test with Trach patients and/or feeding patients on a ventilator. Thanks!
