Regular water with a clean mouth would be less dangerous than water with the
list of ingredients you have shown. Sugar! Seems like a marketing ploy to
me and not based on good medical judgment. I would not use the stuff.

We have just sampled today a new brand of thickened liquids that our
facility is going to be using from now on and I wondered if anyone else
has had experience with them. They are called Carbotrol Nutrassist and
come in the same flavours as our previous supply from
Resource/Novartis.
I'm curious if anyone is aware of what the ingredients might do if they
happen to be aspirated though. The juices seem to have the same stuff
as the Resource products but not the thickened water; it seems to have
quite a few more. It is called Lemon Flavored with Electrolytes
Hydrating Beverage and its ingredients are:
water
high frustose corn syrup
modified food starch
natural and artificial flavors
salt
sodium citrate
potassium citrate
tricalcium phosphate
glycerol abietate
gum arabic
brominated vegetable oil
ascorbic acid (Vitamin C)
I don't tend to recommend that people drink thickened water alot; I
prefer that they drink regular water but some people may be drinking
this stuff anyway.
Thoughts?
