Allie,
I have a concern about your use of the term "failed" his MBS. When I see on
a discharge note that one of my patients "failed" the MBS, I tend to do my
little rant. MBS is not pass/fail. MBS is a tool to determine at which stage
of the swallow there is a problem and if your treatment plan is addressing
that problem.
That comment makes me wonder if your first MBS report was a "fail" or if you
had a more detailed report upon which you planned your therapy approach. If
you were throwing the kitchen sink at this guy and he's demonstrated some
improvement, then maybe this time, you can adapt your treatment to
specifically address his swallowing incompetencies.
The man has only had two months of working with him. Give him a little more
time and a more focused approach. Particularly considering how motivated he
is.
Good luck.
