[Dysphagia] cognitive evals

  • Subject: [Dysphagia] cognitive evals

Several people asked me to forward the responses I got
to my question about cognitive evals. Here they are.
Thanks to all of you who replied!

Laurie Slovarp, M.S., CCC-SLP

Claudia Allen's Allen Cognitive Levels. It is out of
OT.

I spoke with our outpatient SLP. She uses the
Woodcock-Johnson III, Test of Cognitive Abilities.

Laurie:
I work in adult ABI rehabilitation. I use a variety
of non-standardized measures, but have recently
started to use FAVRES (Functional Assessment of Verbal
Reasoning and Executive Strategies (Adult Version)by
Sheila Mac Donald (CCD Publishing). It is
standardized, practical, easy to administer and yields
useful information for my clients. It is more
sensitive to the subtler deficits that many of my
clients have. Let me know if you need
further info.
Good luck,

Our facility uses the Woodcock Johnson and the DTLA. I
find both of them helpful in determing breakdown with
cognitive abilities.

Check out the Rivermeade Behavioral Memory Test
(Harcourt). It's quite different from the rest. Let
me know what you think.
