Réf. : [DYSPHAGIA] Isolated Chewing Difficulty
I'm a clinical RD from Montréal. I'm specialised in dysphagia, neurology
internal medecin and geriatrics since 12 years. What you are describing looks
unfortunatly like ALS as I have seen many of my patients and one of my very good
friend have that disease. I think that she needs to consult a very good
neurologist as fast as che can to rule out that possibility. I also think that
she should see a dietitian to have a nutritionnal assessment and a therapy to
prevent any deterioration of her immune system. I would also recommend, in the
meantime, to take a complet multivitamin ( like Centrum forte, One a Day, ...).
The first symptoms could be many things but fasculations of the tongue or of any
other muscle of the body could be another frequent one.
I think that you should take it seriously.
Good luck.
